I knew we were both in mortal danger. Still, in that instant, I felt well. Whole. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, the blood pulsing hot and fast through my veins again. My lungs filled deep with the sweet scent that came off his skin. It was like there had never been any hole in my chest. I was perfect - not healed, but as if there had never been a wound in the first place.
That is the excerpt on the back of the amazing sequel to Twilight, New Moon.
Oh my Edward! I absolutely LOVED New Moon! It was truly amazing, as all of Stephenie Meyer's books are. I'll admit, it was not my most favorite book of the Saga, but I loved it all the same.
Let's have some character reviews, shall we?
Bella (Swan) Cullen: I was still new to this world of Isabella Marie Swan. I was still overwhelmed by the incredible beauty of Edward Cullen. Honestly, I put myself in the exact spot of Bella in New Moon. When she was talking about how her heart had a hole in it, and was empty, mine was too. When she was thinking of Edward, and his scent and his eyes, I was too. When she was getting adrenaline rushes, I was too; my heart sped up and I felt like I was on the motorcycle. I felt everything Bella felt - the pain, the loneliness, the emptyness...the new feelings she was growing for everyone's favorite character Jacob Black ;) When I first read Twilight, I was extremely impressed about how much I loved the book, and how I figured nothing could be better than it. And then I read Stephenie's descriptions of everything and New Moon and I'M LIVING IT. It was amazing, reading from Bella's perspective once again. It was magnificent. It was beautiful. It was incredible. Oh dear, I'm getting off track again, aren't I? Moving back to the subject of Bella. When she was spending time with Jake, I knew somehow that he was trying hard to get Bella to love him the way he did, but then again, I knew Bella was always Edward. And when he left, I literally cried my eyes out. Especially when Edward tells her that he does not want her to come with him and she just stutters out, "You.....don't.....want......me?" Ugh, true heartbreak! And then she goes cliff diving. And gives up; just float in the water and drown to death, leaving everyone. That was depressing - seeing Bella just giving up and accepting the fact that she was near dying. And then she finds out from Alice that Edward is off to Volterra to kill himself, thinking she had committed suicide herself! That was the true act of heroism that marked Bella in my opinion. And then she thought that she was dreaming, and Edward wasn't really there with her. That was humorous haha. Overall, as I said before, I was still new to this world of Edward and Bella, so this was just another chapter to lead onto other fabulous books.
Edward Cullen: I wanted to hit him so bad when he was in the forest with Bella. I was thinking, through the tears, Why would you leave Bella and hurt her like this? Are you an idiot! Throughout the book, it was funny at how Bella 'heard' his voice while doing stupid adrenaline rushing stunts. That just proves his heart was with Bella all throughout. Ha, but those many chapters without Edward were both filled with torture and anger. First of all, I was extremely enraged with Edward. How could he leave Bella, let alone his other million lovers for fifty million chapters?! And then we think: Aww shoot. He thinks Bella killed herself! Now HE'S gonna leave us! Edward, Edward, Edward. How could you ever think that? It was funny though, because throughout the whole part where Bella is running to save Edward I was thinking, Damn it Bella! RUN FASTER! Anywho, there wasn't much of Edward. But, then at the end, my breath was once again taken away by him. When he was saying all those beautiful things to Bella, about his love and how she was a meteor shooting across his sky. *dreamily sighs* Stephenie just raised my requirements for a man once again.
Jacob Black: At first, I did not like the idea of Bella getting close to Jacob. I knew he was going to fall in love with her - it was quite obvious. But then I realized at how much he was helping Bella; making her feel happy for the time being. I was just starting to like him when he found out he was a werewolf and he totally cut Bella off from him. I was like, What the heck Jacob! You're such a jerk! And then he redeemed himself by trying to make it work out. And he saved Bella from drowning. And protected her while Edward was away. So, near the end, I adored Jacob and couldn't thank him enough.........until he TOLD ON BELLA AND GAVE HER MOTORCYCLE TO CHARLIE! Now that just made me extremely mad! So, New Moon left Jacob on a bad note with me. (Don't worry - he redeemed himself once again in Eclipse)
Okay, I'm sure I bored you long enough with the three character reviews. Those were the three main ones, so, yeah.
Moving onto the whole storyline:
I absolutely DID NOT expect Jasper to snap and then the Cullens leaving. It hit me FULL FORCE and when from the time Edward started to 'ignore' Bella to when he left, I. was. CRYING MY EYES OUT! It was so depressing, and I did not know if I could go on. As the story unfolded, and Bella was hanging with Jacob, it gradually got better. It extremely got better when Alice returned to...bear bad news to Bella. The whole heroic act of Bella was pretty awesome too. For once, Bella saved Edward. It was interesting to see the positions switched between them.
Overall: this book was amazing (wow, how I have abused that word in this review.) It was totally different from what I expected the sequel would be like, but that's what made it great. It kept me itching for more, as any Stephenie Meyer book would.

I totally agree with every single thing you said. I felt exactly the same way.
Actually, this book is my favorite in the series. I love how Jacob becomes a huge part of the book. Anyway, good review!!!!!!!!!!
